Indio is expanding its support for local businesses with the opening of the Indio Business Connect Center, a dedicated facility designed to serve as a hub for entrepreneurs and small business owners.

The center, located at 45222 Towne Street, will offer one-on-one support, business classes, and panel discussions. Future phases include a “Learning Lab” for hands-on skill building and a dedicated co-working space for local professionals.

While the physical location is new, the Indio Business Connect program has been an active part of the city’s economic strategy since its launch in 2024. The initiative was created to provide technical assistance and resources to both startups and long-established local businesses.

Economic Development Director Miguel Ramirez-Cornejo has overseen the program’s growth, which includes high-level educational partnerships such as a Mini-MBA program offered through the California State University, San Bernardino. The initiative also features the ¡Tú Sí Puedes! program, a Spanish-language business series designed to ensure equitable access to mentorship for the city’s diverse entrepreneurial community.

The expansion comes as Indio continues to lead the Coachella Valley in residential and commercial growth as dozens of new businesses have been started in just the last few years.

Next week, the center hosts its inaugural event, “Introduction to Employer Services”, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28. The workshop will focus on hiring and recruitment support, wage subsidies, and strategies for layoff aversion. Learn more on the city’s website.
